Bradbury UK Builds 24-Ton CTL Slitting Line
May 7, 2007 - Stourbridge, West Midlands, UK
Bradbury International UK Ltd. and the Bradbury Co., Inc. of the U.S. collaborated to design and manufacture a large 24-ton CTL/Crosscut Trapezoidal Slitting Line. This high-capacity line was built for a customer in the Middle East and underwent extensive testing before being shipped abroad. Bradbury UK held several Open House viewings so that those interested could see this large, automated line in operation. The line includes a 24-ton twin-cone uncoiler, a high-precision 11-roll hydraulic leveler, guillotine shear, bias-head crosscut slitter, and hydraulic stacking system. The hydraulic down-stroking guillotine pivots from 0º to 4º to cut true trapezoidal blanks from coil steel 3 to 10 mm thick. A hydraulic blade gap adjustment compensates for gauge changes. During slitting, trapezoidal blanks are produced by traversing the slitting head across the width of the strip as the slitter knives cut along the length of the part. This custom Trapezoidal CTL/Slitter Line handles hot-rolled steel up to 10 mm thick and 2.2 m wide. Production is estimated at 300 sheets per shift. Maximum cut length is 16 m, and maximum line speed is 30 mpm. For more information about Bradbury UK rollformers, related coil processing equipment, and custom-built lines, telephone the Bradbury UK office at 01384.893777 (+44.1384.893777 from outside the country).
